Madiba, Kgatlana and Fulutudilu on target in Europe

LETABO MADIBA (Fatih Vatanspor – Turkey)

Turkey-based Letago Madiba scored her fourth goal of the season to help Fatih Vatanspor to an emphatic 6-0 win over Amed in the Turkish Women’s Football Super League.

With her side already three goals to the good and with no reply from their opponents, the former TUT player scored in the 67th minute to extend the hosts lead.

The victory was enough to see the fourth-placed Fatih Vatanspor move four points clear of Fomget in the league.

Madiba is a defender turned forward and has been on the books of ALG Spor in Turkey and Minsk in Belarus.

THEMBI KGATLANA (Atletico Madrid – Spain)

Atletico Madrid’s Thembi Kgatlana scored in the 24th minute in their 2-1 loss to Athletico Bilbao in the Spanish League.

This was her fourth goal in as many games. The Banyana Banyana star’s goal levelled matters for her club but it was not enough as Bilbao restored their lead and won the match.

The goal must have given the South African forward confidence ahead of the all-important Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) two-legged qualifier against Algeria on Friday, 18 February 2022. The return leg will be played in Algiers on Wednesday, 23 February.

Overall victory will see the 25-year old and her compatriots qualify for the women’s continental soccer showpiece.

ODE FULUTUDILU (Glasgow City – Scotland)

South Africa’s Ode Fulutudilu was on the scoresheet as her Scottish Glasgow City defeated Celtic 2-0 in the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1.

The 32-year old struck in the 13th minute before Tyler Dodds made it two in the second half.

The win narrowed the gap on leaders Glasgow Rangers to two points in the league – it also moves City five points clear of third-placed Celtic in the battle for a Champions League spot.
