The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) registered a famous victory when they defeated their cross-town nemesis and reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies 1-0 in a pulsating match played on Sunday, 25 September 2022 at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

Despite fielding a very strong line-up that included Banyana Banyana’s Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, Tiisetso Makhubela, Melinda Kgadiete, Thalea Smidt and Lelona Daweti, the Brazilians still suffered their second loss of the season in 19 outings, thanks to a Mary Ntsweng stunning free kick in the 71st minute that made all the difference.
Banyana Ba Style dominated the proceedings but had nothing to show for it

“It is a game that we lost with pride because we gave everything on the pitch. We were dominant in possession; we attacked the key areas, but we suffered a lapse in concentration and that cost us the game. Although we lost, the performance of our troops was impressive. We need to bounce back from the minor setback and look forward to the next game. We are still in a position to defend our title and we are not going to rest until we achieve our main objective,” said head coach Jerry Tshabalala on the club’s website.
The defending champions are still on top of the league table, despite the loss. They have on 49 points, four ahead of both JVW in second place and TUT in the third position.
