Lyon back on top of the world as they win the UEFA Women’s Champions League

French side Lyon Féminines turned the tables on their much fancied opponents, La Liga champions Barcelona Femenino to lift the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy after a 3-1 victory in the final at the Juventus Stadium in Turin.

Lyon have now won a record eight titles – first in 2010/11 and in 2011/12. They then lost in the final the following year.

For three seasons they failed to make any inroads but returned with a bang as they annexed the title five years in succession (between 2015 and 2020) before their winning streak was snapped by Barcelona last season.

Now they are back on top of world football.
