The US Soccer Federation has announced a new equal pay agreement between the men’s and women’s national teams – this includes matching World Cup prize money along with their share of television and sponsorship revenues.
With this move, they have become the first country to do so.
The move has been hailed as something that will change the game around the world.
“This moment is the result of an extensive bargaining process, and U.S. Soccer is grateful for the commitment and collaboration of the men’s and women’s national teams and their representatives throughout this process,” said US Soccer.
These deals will chart a positive path forward for US Soccer to work together with the men’s and women’s national teams to grow the game of soccer at every level across our country.”
This comes after years of wrangling in court and also public campaigning.
