Three teams with a 100 percent record after three rounds played

Only three rounds of fixtures have been played and already reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are showing their hand.

The Brazilians, along with two other teams – JVW FC and Thunderbirds Ladies – have a 100 percent record in the league campaign so far, tied on nine points each.

Masandawana top the log standings by virtue of a superior goal difference – thanks largely to last season’s joint top goal scorer Andisiwe Mgcoyi (27 goals) who seems to be in the hunt for the title again.

She has hit the back of the net four times for Sundowns so far, ably assisted by new recruit Miche Minnies (3) and Boitumelo Rabale (2).

The defending champions have scored a total of 17 goals – three more than second-placed JVW, while Thunderbirds have managed only five.

Some of the goals for the Blue Diamonds have come from their captain, Nompumelelo Nyandeni (3), who shared the top scorer’s chart with Mgcoyi.

Gabriela Salgado has chipped in with another three, with Kgadi Mahlaola grabbing two.

JVW, who have a new coach this season, and Thunderbirds, seem to be making an early charge to wrestle the league title from Sundowns as the duo finished fourth and seventh place respectively.

Although there are still a lot of matches ahead, the start has not been promising for five teams who are yet to collect points.

Ma-Indies, newcomers City Lads Ladies, the Tsunami Queens and Golden Ladies have all played three matches each, while Durban Ladies has only gone out twice – all have lost their games.

North West’s Golden Ladies are bottom of the table due to a porous defence that has let in 16 goals, while having only one strike in goals.
