Sundowns Ladies return with a bang to the Hollywoodbets Super League

After being out of action for some time due to COSAFA Champions League commitments, reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies returned to the domestic league with a bang.

The Brazilians hammered a hapless Golden Ladies 7-1 at the Montshioa Stadium in Mahikeng – with a brace by Salome Kekana – further adding on the troubles of the struggling North West side who are still winless and bottom of the table after 17 matches.

The Chloorkop-based outfit opened the scoring on the half hour mark through Kekana, before Andisiwe Mgcoyi gave her side a two nil advantage when she found the back of the net a minute before recess.

It then rained goals in the second half with the African champions running riot as they scored five more goals in this period.

Rhoda Mulaudzi started the rout when she netted in the 57th minute.

Golden Ladies pulled one back in the 61st minute to make it 2-1 but that’s where it all ended for them.

Instead it was the visitors who shook the scoreboard on four occasions – Miche Minnies (62nd), Kekana (73rd), Chantelle Esau (83rd) and Thembelihle Masibe all getting in on the act.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) were merciless against newcomers Vasco da Gama as they ran out 4-0 winners at Parow Park in Cape Town.

JVW FC

Second-placed JVW FC reduced the gap at the top to three points after they emerged 3-1 victors over Ma-Indies at the Wits Main Stadium.

JVW is now on 35 points while TUT has 38.

Richmond United travelled to Polokwane and returned with all three points – they defeated First Touch FC 2-0, while Coal City Wizards were too hot to handle for Tsunami Queens, winning 3-0 at the Puma Stadium in Witbank.

Thunderbirds Ladies

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) notched up their 11 win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic who are blowing hot and cold, while the Thunderbirds Ladies flew over Durban Ladies when they mastered a 2-1 win at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
