Sundowns chairman wishes the Ladies team well ahead of CAF Women’s Champions League

Mamelodi Sundowns Club Chairman, Tlhopie Motsepe, has wished the Sundowns Ladies team well ahead of their departure for Morocco where they will try and defend their CAF Women’s Champions League in the second edition of the tournament.

The competition runs from 30 October to 13 November 2022, and Banyana Ba Style have been drawn in Group B alongside Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria), Wadi Degla (Egypt) and TP Mazembe (DR Congo).

Group A has Simba Queens (Tanzania), Green Buffaloes (Zambia), Determine Girls FC (Liberia) and hosts AS FAR.

“You are going to Morocco to defend your title as ‘Champions of Africa’, so you must be prepared to give your best to live up to that tag. Every team will be gunning for the prestigious trophy and the accolades that come with being a champion. Therefore, you have to fight together to retain this title which you worked very hard for last year. Remember when you left for Egypt last year, you represented the entire nation and even the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region with so much class. Nothing has changed and the entire country will be cheering you to succeed again as you go,” the Chairman said on the club website prior to the squad’s departure for the continent’s premier women’s tournament.

The South Africans will begin the defence of their continental title on 31 October 2022 against Bayelsa Queens.

“On behalf of the President of the Club, the Board, staff members, First Team, and the Yellow Nation family at large, we are firmly behind you, and we are so proud of your achievements across all fronts. We understand that you will be facing stiffer competition for the continental crown this year; nevertheless, we encourage you to look out for each other and fight together as a family. Once again, we believe so much in your abilities and we urge you to go out there and make us proud,” added the Chairman.
