The Hollywoodbets Super League is still in full swing despite some teams already on a break due to the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana will participate next month (20 July to 20 August).
Things have not changed however for Ma-Indies Ladies who suffered their eighth loss in a row following a 1-0 defeat to Durban Ladies in a Hollywoodbets Super League clash played on Saturday (24 June) at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont, near Durban.

Durban Ladies 1 – 0 Ma-Indies Ladies:
The defeat has dragged the Limpopo outfit deeper into the relegation quagmire, with a total of 16 losses, leaving them with just six points after only two wins.
Since the beginning of the current season, Ma-Indies are yet to play a draw, and have lost all nine away matches, winning only two of the other nine.
Both victories were in April: 3-0 vs City Lads Ladies and 1-0 vs Thunderbirds Ladies.
Goals are also hard to come by for Ma-Indies, with only 12 in 18 outings, but conceded 49 – the second porous defence in the league after Coal City Wizards (they have let in 66 in 19 outings).
This was Durban Ladies’ ninth win of the season, and they are also on position nine on the table after 19 matches.

City Lads Ladies 0 – 1 UJ Ladies:
After going through a bad patch of seven games without victory, the University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies) seems to be back on the road to success. They notched up their third win on the spin, defeating City Lads Ladies 1-0 at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in Gqeberha, also on Saturday.
This was their ninth victory of the current campaign, with seven loses and two draws, which sees them on the eighth spot with 29 points.
City Lads are 13th.

Coal City Wizards 0 – 1 Richmond United:
On Sunday (25 June 2023) Richmond United returned to winning ways – their first in eight games as they beat Coal City Wizards 2-1 at the Puma stadium in Witbank.
During their trying times, the Northern Cape side suffered four losses and managed three draws. Their last win was on 29 April against Copperbelt Ladies.
Richmond United is seventh on the table, and Coal City are 14th.

There is one round of matches remaining before all the teams take a break for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This will be a period for the bottom four clubs to reflect, recharge and return with a different strategy as they are all in danger of the axe.
All are left with 12 games, except for Coal City, who have played one more.
Thunderbirds Ladies, Coal City Wizards and City Lads are separated by a point each.
12th placed newcomers Copperbelt Ladies are not totally out of the woods as they sit on 16 points.
