A January 2021 FIFA ruling has seen Iceland captain Sara Bjork Gunnarsdottir win a landmark maternity case against her former club, Lyon from France.
According to the ruling, female players are entitled to a minimum of 14 weeks’ maternity leave at two-thirds of their salary.
But the players was given a raw deal by the French side when she fell pregnant early in 2021.
