BANYANA BANYANA DROP IN FIFA RANKINGS AS TANZANIA AND KENYA SOAR

The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana have dropped one spot to 54th in the latest FIFA/Coca Cola Women’s World Rankings.

The African Champions remain second on the continent behind Nigeria.

Morocco is third, followed by Zambia while Ghana is in fifth place.

Completing the top 10 are Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal and Algeria.

But the biggest movers on the African continent are Tanzania and Kenya, who shot up seven places from 145 to 138 and from 149 to 142 respectively. They are the most improved in the last two months under CAF.

Tunisia suffered the biggest drop, 11 places – from 78 to the current spot of 89. The North Africans were followed by Equatorial Guinea and Egypt who fell eight places – and now sit on 90 and 100 respectively.

Interestingly, Tanzania took on Equatorial Guinea, while Kenya face Tunisia in the first round of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Both Tanzania and Kenya advanced to the second round and will tackle Ethiopia and the Gambia respectively.

USA Women’s National Team

Former FIFA Women’s World Champions USA remain top of the standings following by current World Champions, Spain, while Germany, England and Japan complete the top five.

The Asians climbed three places following their victory in the four-nation SheBelieves Cup held recently in the USA – the first time they reach this position since 2015. It was also a remarkable comeback for Japan who were out of the top 10 for the last two years.

Sweden, Canada, Brazil, Korea DPR and the Netherlands make up the top 10.
