Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies secure league title with four games to spare

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies successfully defended their Hollywoodbets Super League title when they annihilated Coal City Wizards at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the only midweek match.

Banyana ba Style were ruthless as they registered a convincing 9-0 win with a hattrick from Boitumelo Rabale – her second of the season – and braces from Miche Minnies and Lehlogolono Mashigo, while Rhoda Mulaudzi and Thembelihle Masibi chipped in with one goal each.

Masandawana led 4-0 at the break.

The nine strikes in the one-sided contest were enough to see the Brazilians surpass the 100 league goals with four matches to spare.

The fixture also saw the return of number one goalkeeper Andile Dlamini following a family bereavement.

After 26 games, Sundowns Ladies are now sitting on 70 points – 19 more than the second-placed neighbours, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) who have two games in hand.

“The goals we scored today have increased our confidence ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League. Kudos to the team for assisting Miche Minnies and I regularly. They believe so much in us and we are glad that our goals have powered the team to more goal-scoring records. The belief within the team is growing and we are happy with our progress,” Rabale told her club’s website.

The victory against Coal City Wizards was the seventh on the trot for the reigning champions, with a total of 23 all season.

They have conceded only 11 goals in the process.

Rabale is now the leading goal scorer with 19 to her name, just one ahead of Minnies.
