The Tshwane University of Technology is the place to be this weekend when they will host a Hollywoodbets Super League triple header on Sunday, May 1 2022 – in what will be in a first in women’s football, a clear indication of the growing interest in the game.
But if you are unable to make it, do not despair – SABC TV will broadcast all the matches live. This is a first for women’s football, which indicates the growing interest in the game.
Kicking off the Super League Sunday festivities is the clash between newcomers CR Vasco da Gama of the Western Cape against Gauteng’s University of Johannesburg Ladies (UJ FC) at 09h00. An hour and a half later (11jh30), reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will go toe to toe with Golden Ladies from the North West, with hosts TUT rounding off the day when they entertain debutants City Lads Ladies at 15h00.
But action starts on Saturday, April 30 with all the matches kicking off at 15h00.
Following the recent KwaZulu Natal disaster, Durban Ladies will be getting their first taste of the 2022 Hollywoodbets Super League when they visit Thunderbirds Ladies in East London.
Durban Ladies were not able to play their opening fixture after it was postponed due to the floods that ravaged the province.
Ma-Indies will welcome JVW FC in Giyani – the latter was the highest scoring side with 10 goals in their first league match and will be looking to continue where they left off.
Bloemfontein Celtic will take the long trip the Cape when they travel to the University of the Western Cape – both sides won their opening matches and this should be an exciting encounter.
Richmond Ladies will be hoping for better fortunes when they host First Touch FC in the Northern Cape.
Witbank’s Coal City Wizards are up against the Tsunami Queens in Bethlehem, Free State.
Thirty goals were scored in the first week of the 2022 Hollywoodbets Super League season – it will be interesting to see what week two produces.
