Last season the Blues (University of the Western Cape) completed a double over the Blue Diamonds (JVW) who had just been promoted to the Hollywoodbets Super League after the latter claimed the Sasol League title.
Coach Thinasonke Mbuli’s charges registered 3-1 victories in May and in October.
That was then. This is now.
The two sides will face off in the second half of a double header bill at the Wits Stadium on Sunday, 22 May 2022 at 15h00.
The preceding match at 11h30 will see reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies take on TUT in the Tshwane derby – another block-buster of a match in prospect.

JVW are riding the crest of the wave as they find themselves top of the log standings.
They are the only side unbeaten in 2022 after winning all their five matches to date. The Bedfordview-based outfit will be looking to cement their position and maintain a blemish-free run, which makes for an interesting battle against UWC.
The Blue Diamonds are also well-drilled in front of goal as evidenced by their 10-2 victory in the opening match of the season against Richmond Ladies.
In total, they have hit the back of the net 19 times, second best to the free-scoring Sundowns Ladies who have bagged 26 goals.
JVW come up against a UWC squad that has not had the best start to the season with three wins in five outings, suffering one loss in the process.
But the Blues are on cloud nine after snapping a four year unbeaten run of Banyana Ba Style – a result that saw the latter being unseated at the top of the table and overtaken by JVW.

Khanya Xesi and Sibulele Holweni’s goals did the damage to the Brazilians.
Mbuli is not too concerned however about complacency that could creep in when they take on JVW who are yet to win against her side.
“I told them (my players) I expect the same energy, the same attitude, the same desire and the same commitment as the game we played last Sunday (against Sundowns Ladies). We just want to be consistent with our performance and if we manage on that score, then there is no reason why we cannot compete with anyone else in the league,” said Mbuli.
