Reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, have opened a four-point gap at the summit of the table after defeating second-placed JVW 4-2 in an exciting and fast-paced top of the table clash on Saturday (4 June 2022).

This was the Blue Diamonds’ first loss of the season after going eight rounds of fixtures without a blemish. They were the only team unbeaten so far in the league.
Arguably the biggest match of the round, this much-anticipated clash lived up to expectations at the Groenkloof Stadium in Pretoria.
Separated by just one point, both teams had a lot to play for.
Goals from Andisiwe Mgcoyi, captain Zanele Nhlapho (pen), Rhoda Mulaudzi and Salome Kekana were enough for Masandawana to claim all three points – while captain Nompumelelo Nyandeni responding with a brace for JVW.

Sundowns are now on 24 points – four clear of the Blue Diamonds who are tied on 20 points each with third-paced University of the Western Cape (UWC), but the Bedfordview-based side has a superior goal difference.
UWC were also full of good value as they won the first ever Cape Derby – showing no mercy to newcomers Vasco da Gama in a 4-1 victory – with goals coming from Philisa Mjambane, Tiffany Kortje (2) and Khanya Xesi (pen).
Following three consecutive draws, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) returned to the winners circle as they overcame a spirited Coal City Wizards 3-2 at the TUT Stadium.

Captain Busisiwe Ndimeni struck twice for the Red Army with Koketso Tlailane grabbing the winner on the stroke of full-time.
Sixth-placed Richmond United proved to be too strong for the Golden Ladies beating them 4-0.
Golden Ladies remains winless in nine matches alongside City Lads Ladies and the Tsunami Queens.

City Lads played to a one-all draw against the fourth-placed UJ FC in Soweto.
One match was not played on Saturday between hosts Thunderbirds Ladies and First Touch FC – this after the Limpopo side failed to arrive for the match at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London.

Durban Ladies and Northern Cape’s Tsunami Queens travelled to Bethlehem in the Free State as part of the Hollywoodbets Super League double header at Goble Park Stadium on Sunday.
The KwaZulu Natal side returned home with all three points after winning 3-1 – their second victory in the campaign after playing only eight rounds, with a match in hand.
In the second match in Bethlehem, the high-riding Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies could not get past Limpopo outfit Ma-Indies Ladies FC as the pair played to a goalless draw.
