African representatives at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup – Tanzania, Morocco and Nigeria, now know the identity of their opponents at the tournament following the completion of the draw held in New Delhi, India on Friday (24 June).
Tanzania are in Group D along alongside two former winners of the competition, Japan and France, as well as Canada.
Nigeria will have to deal with Germany, New Zealand and Chile in Group B, while Morocco find themselves among powerhouses USA and Brazil and hosts India in Group A.

Group stage draw results:
Group A: India, USA, Morocco, Brazil
Group B: Germany, Nigeria, New Zealand, Chile
Group C: Spain, Colombia, Mexico, China
Group D: Japan, Tanzania, Canada, France
The competition will be held from 11-30 October across three cities – Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai.
India will face the USA, who are in their fifth appearance, in the opening match of the tournament, kickstarting the pathway to glory for some of the best young female players.

The hosts will be making their debut in the football showpiece, rewriting the history books as they become the first Indian women’s football side to feature at the World Cup.
Morocco will be making its first appearance at the tournament and are the first North African team to qualify for the tournament.
North Korea have won the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup twice – 2008 and 2016 – while there have been single victories for Japan, South Korea and France.
