Reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns opened the defence of their title with a 2-1 win over a stubborn Ma-Indies from Limpopo.
The Sunday (24 April) afternoon clash took place at the Giyani Stadium as part of a double header.

Masandawana took the lead in the 14th minute through debutant Miche Minnies, who was signed in the offseason from Hollywoodbets Super League new comers, Vasco da Gama of Cape Town.
The Tshwane side had a two-goal cushion when Boitumelo Rabale scored the second from the penalty spot on the half hour mark.
But this was cut in half by Valeria Packay who pulled one back three minutes before the half time break.
The second stanza failed to produce any goals with the defending champions doing enough to open their 2022 campaign with a win.
In an earlier match at the same venue, it was raining goals between First Touch FC and the Tsunami Queens.
The former swept past the visiting Queens with a convincing 5-0 victory – as they led 3-0 at the break.
There were five different goal scorers on the day.
Noxolo Gcina (’21), Portia Mphuti (‘31), Lebogang Mamabolo (’38), Jeanet Fischer (’61) and Linki Twala (’75) all got on the scoresheet.
A total of 30 goals were scored in seven matches – with JVW the biggest winners with a 10-2 victory over Richmond United.
All the matches produced winners, with only two teams failing to hit the back of the net – Coal City Wizards and the Tsunami Queens.
