Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are back at the summit of the Hollywoodbets Super League after a dominant 5-1 win over Thunderbirds Ladies in round seven of the campaign.

The clash took place at the Gelvandale Stadium in Qgeberha.

Boitumelo Rabale opened the scoring from the penalty spot for a one-nil lead at half time.

Then it was the Andisiwe Mgcoyi show as the second half substitute netted three in the second half, with Rhoda Mulaudzi, who also came on in this half, chipping in with one.

This is the same score line the Brazilians administered when they defeated neighbours TUT in their previous fixture.

Banyana Ba Style are now on 18 points, just one above the second-placed JVW.

Jerry Tshabalala’s charges have now scored 36 goals in seven matches.

It took Masandawana just two matches to return to the top of the log standings – thanks largely in part to JVW dropping points in two consecutive matches.

The Blue Diamonds were held to a 2-all draw by TUT – their second stalemate in as many matches, allowing Sundowns to overtake them.

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies got the better of Richmond United in a 2-0 victory.

After four victories, the Free State side is now in third place with 15 points, two behind the pace-setters.

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) welcomed First Touch FC to Cape Town but the Limpopo side left empty handed as they were beaten 3-0.

UWC sits fourth on the table with 14 points.

First Touch has now lost three matches and managed two wins with as many draws –  leaving them 12th on the table.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ FC) were the other big winners as this weekend.

They showed no mercy to the struggling bottom-of-the-table Golden Ladies, defeating them 5-1 in Soweto.

UJ lies in position five with 13 points after four wins, while the North West side has only one point to their name after seven outings.

Coal City Wizards

Mpumalanga’s Coal City Wizards were on fire as they thrashed newly-promoted City Lads Ladies 5-0 at the Gelvandale Stadium. Wizards are in position six.

City Lads remain 15th with only one point.

Ma-Indies Ladies grabbed their fourth victory over the season with a commanding 5-2 success over the Tsunami Queens in the Northern Cape.

The Queens are hovering just above the drop zone.

Newcomers Vasco da Gama are also finding life difficult in the elite women’s league.

They suffered their fifth defeat – going down 1-0 to Durban Ladies.

Vasco occupy the 13th spot with Durban Ladies 11th.

Only three teams are yet to collect maximum points this season – Golden Ladies, City Lads Ladies and the Tsunami Queens.
