Seoposenwe parts ways with SC Braga

Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe is club-less after deciding to part ways with Portuguese side SC Braga after a two year stay at the club.

“SC Braga informs that players Diana Gomes, Inês Maia, Machaela George, Mariana Couto, Evy Pereira, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Andreia Norton and Myra Delgadillo end their contract with the Club and will not be part of the squad of the women’s senior team in the 2022/2023 season,” said SC Braga on their website.

“SC Braga appreciates all the commitment, dedication and professionalism with which they have always represented the Club and wishes you all the best for the future.”

The Capetonian made 50 appearances for the club since joining 2020 following a stint at Real Betis in Spain.

She was one of the outstanding performers for SC Braga and helped them win the 2020/21 Portuguese Cup – where she scored a brace in the final against SL Benfica.

They also lifted the 2021/21 Taca da Liga.

Seoposenwe has been named in the Banyana Banyana squad that will do duty at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco from 2-23 July.

She returns to the team after a two and a half year absence, and she made it known on social media.

The last time she ran out in Banyana Banyana colours was in 2019 in a friendly match against Japan, but due to Covid 19 restrictions and visa challenges, she has been unable to honour a national team call-up.

The only time when she managed to land in the country to face Netherlands in a friendly match last year, the match was called off after several Banyana Banyana players tested positive for Covid 19.

The 28-year old has been capped 78 times with 16 goals to her name.
