Banyana Banyana’s Jermaine Seoposenwe will look back at the 2025 campaign with pride despite failing to make the final of the prestigious season-ending Clausura Tournament.
The Capetonian finished as the top goal scorer among all the five South Africans plying their trade in the Liga MX Femenil.
Despite missing three matches in the regular season due to injury, she was able to find the back of the next eight times in 18 games, including the Clausura play-offs.
Following hot on her heels is Thembi Kgatlana, who is one goal behind (7) after 18 games.

Sinoxolo Cesane, who is on the books of the struggling Mazatlán FC, managed five goals in 16 fixtures – she missed only one match the entire season. Her team finished in 16th place in the 18-team league.
Hilda Magaia transferred from the USA at Kansas City Current and became an overnight sensation when she joined Club Tijuan. In 13 games she registered four goals and several assists. Teammate and compatriot, Amogelang Motau also made the move to Mexico but struggled with gametime in the beginning. However, she got to play in seven fixtures and scored one goal. Club Tijuana finished 13th on the log standings.

Seoposenwe and Kgatlana were involved in the top eight competition, the 2025 Clausura Tournament, which determines the league winners.
Both players helped their teams to fourth and fifth spots respectively.
It was the Capetonian’s goal that knocked out Tigress in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Clausura Tournament, but Monterrey went on to lose 4-1 on aggregate to Pachuca in the semis.
Pachuca will now face Club America in the final to determine the league champions.
Despite the setback, the five South Africans based in Mexico have had a decent season.

With some of them back home for the off-season, the players will however need to stay fit as the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana will go into a training camp towards the end of this month in what will be the final available international break before the start of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in July.
South Africa are the defending champions. They have been drawn against Ghana, Tanzania and Mali in Group C.
Hosts Morocco are in Group A alongside Zambia, Senegal and DR Congo, while Group B has Nigeria, Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria.
