Nonhlanhla Mthandi bagged a hattrick for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies as the Hollywoodbets Super League defending champions ran riot, notching up their fifth win in as many matches of the 2025 campaign.

Banyana ba Style defeated a hapless Royal AM 8-0 at a wet and cold UJ Soccer Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday afternoon (23 April 2025) in the only midweek clash in the elite women’s football league.

Mthandi scored in both halves ((21’ 48’ 66’) – continuing where she left off as she also netted in the previous match against Ezemvelo Women’s team.

Against Royal AM, the Banyana Banyana player was ably assisted by Isabella Ludwig (54’ 90’) who chipped in with a brace as she is slowly finding her feet in the star-studded Sundowns Ladies team.

Melinda Kgadiete (30’), Lehlogonolo Mashigo (81’) and second half substitute Refilwe Tholakele (85’) also joined in on the goal fest to give interim coach Godfrey Sapula a great start to his tenure in the women’s game with five victories under his belt.

The scoreline was the highest recorded so far in the new season, closely followed by TS Galaxy Queens’ 5-0 win over the same Royal AM, as well as the 6-1 defeat Ezemvelo Ladies suffered at the hands of the University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies).

Banyana Ba Style are yet to concede and have scored an impressive 15 goals. They are top of the table on 15 points, five above the second placed UJ Ladies.

Action continues this coming weekend with the reigning champions travelling to Limpopo to face Copperbelt Ladies on Saturday (26 April) in one of six games on the day.

Still looking for their first point after three fixtures, Royal AM welcome a tricky JVW in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal, while TS Galaxy Queens host the University of Johannesburg at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Mpumalanga.

There will be two Varsity Derbies on the go with the University of Fort Hare (UFH) visiting newcomers the University of Cape Town (UCT) at the Kopano Astro Stadium in the Mother City, and TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies will welcome the University of the Western Cape (UWC) at the TUT Main Stadium in Tshwane.

At the Merino Park Stadium in De War, Northern Cape, home side Richmond United will lock horns with the University of Pretoria (Tuks).

All the fixtures kick off at 3pm.

There is a double header in Durban when Ezemvelo Ladies take on City Lads Ladies in the opening game at 11am, with Durban Ladies facing First Touch Ladies in the later kick off (3pm).
