Miche Minnie and Melinda Kgadiete both scored brace when reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, returned to the winners’ circle with a emphatic 4-0 victory over Thunderbirds Ladies in one of the midweek matches.
Minnies opened the scoring in the 35th minute, with Kgadiete getting in on the act in five minutes later for a 2-0 half time lead.

The duo continued where they left off in the second stanza, with Kgadiete increasing the lead to 3-0 before Minnies grabbed her second of the day, and Sundowns’ fourth, capping what is already becoming a stellar year in her debut season for the Brazilians.
The Cape Town-born player is now her club’s leading goal scorer with 15 strikes to her name.
“We created several goal-scoring chances today and I am happy that I took my opportunities when they came. As a striker, I feel motivated to excel with this team because winning is a culture at Chloorkop. We started the game brightly and I loved the way we dominated the first half in key areas. Overall, we stuck to the game plan, and we are happy to seal maximum points,” Minnies told her club’s website.
Her sentiments were echoed by Kgadiete, who has now banged in seven goals at club level.

“I am very happy with my performance today because we needed to respond after the tough encounter last time out. I am always happy to be on the score sheet, but claiming the win is always the ultimate objective. We need to build on this momentum because there is still a long way to go,” said Kgadiete.
The defending champions will be tested on Sunday, (2 October) when they face a stubborn Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies.
