South Africa’s Jessica Wade is living her dream.
The former U17 Women’s National Team captain is currently on week-long trip to Spain.
This was after she was selected by La Liga Santander to train with one of Spain’s top clubs, Villareal as a reward for her sterling performances in the 2020 COSAFA U17 Women’s Championship – she was named the Player of the Tournament.
The trip was delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

To add to the excitement she got a chance to train with the reserve side and play in a friendly match where they drew 1-1 with the Valencia U17 team on Tuesday, 3 May 2022.

She was joined by Mduduzi Tshabalala of the Kaizer Chiefs reserves who also earned the trip after his exploits in the 2020 COSAFA U17 Men’s Championship.
The cherry on top for the two youngsters was when they attended the UEFA Champions League semi-final clash between Villareal and Liverpool on Tuesday night (3 May).

Wade was part of the Bantwana squad that qualified and played at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay in 2018 under current head coach Simphiwe Dludlu.
She blossomed in her football career during her time at JVW before moving in 2019 to UJ Ladies FC. With the great talent that she is, she is now undergoing trials in THE NETHERLANDS.
