Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are back at the summit of the 2024 Hollywoodbets Super League after a dominating and merciless 7-nil drubbing over newcomers Lindelani Ladies.

The demolition job took place at the UJ Soccer Stadium in Soweto on Sunday, 14 April 2024.

Banyana ba Style made some changes, giving a chance to players returning from injury, Miche Minnies, Kholosa Biyana and Rhoda Mulaudzi while new recruit Asanda Hadebe made her debut for the Brazilians.

Minnies repaid the coach’s faith with a hattrick, while Boitumelo Rabale got a brace and Salome Kekana chipped in with one, with an own goal by Lindelani Ladies compounding matters.

Sundowns Ladies lead the log standings on 15 points, level with second-placed University of Pretoria (Amatuks Ladies) – both have played six matches each.

The Brazilians have scored an impressive 23 goals – seven more than the nearest teams, Amatuks and UJ who have netted 16 each.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies) is two points adrift after their seven rounds of fixtures.

The first ever meeting between Banyana ba Style and Lindelani Ladies was one of a double-header at the venue.

The second match saw the University of the Western Cape (UWC) claim bragging rights in the Varsity Derby against UJ Ladies in an exciting and hard-fought 2-1 win.

The Capetonians moved into the top eight with the victory, with 11 points.

With the result, the Blues continued their dominance over the Gauteng side – winning their sixth game in seven outings, with one match drawn.

The University of Pretoria shot to the top of the 2024 Hollywoodbets Super League table on Saturday (13 April) before being unseated by the Brazilians on Sunday morning.

Amatuks had defeated City Lads Ladies at the University of Pretoria Stadium.

This was the second time in as many matches that the Eastern Cape side surrendered their lead after drawing first blood, and lost by the same margin to TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies in their previous fixture.

Copperbelt Ladies suffered their first defeat of the season after going down 2-0 to TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies in Pretoria.

The Limpopo side came into this encounter with an unblemished record after six rounds of fixtures, but that all changed when they travelled to Gauteng and returned home empty-handed.

The fourth-placed Copperbelt Ladies are on 12 points, level with TUT Matsatsantsa (fifth place), Richmond United (sixth) as well as the seventh-placed TS Galaxy Queens.

After seven matches, Thunderbirds Ladies remain without any points after losing as many games.

The Eastern Cape-based outfit hosted First Touch Ladies and lost 3-0, leaving the former languishing at the bottom of the table.

Thunderbirds have conceded 24 goals – the highest in the league thus far – and have only scored three of their own.

Royal AM are also going through a rough patch as they are yet to win a match in this campaign. They have played four draws – the latest a 1-all stalemate against newcomers the University of Fort Hare who are second from bottom. Both sides have so far accumulated four points each – the students with one win a draw.

JVW squandered a 1-nil lead but managed to walk away with a point in a 1-all draw against Richmond United at Merino Park in De Aar, Northern Cape. Nompumelelo Nyandeni, who returned to the Gauteng club recently, got on the scoresheet – for the second match in a row.

Mamello Makhabane found the back of the net in TS Galaxy Queens’ 1-nil win over Durban Ladies at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga.

The result sees The Rockets pocket 12 points.
