Reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued with their fine form, as they walloped the struggling Coal City Wizards 11 – 0 in a midweek clash (Wednesday, 18 October 2023) played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The result sees the second-placed Brazilians move up to 60 points on the table, three adrift of log leaders the University of the Western Cape, who beat Royal AM 1-0 with a Noxolo Cesane goal in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday
Both teams have played 24 games each.

With the outcome against Coal City, Banyana ba Style have matched their highest score and also the league’s biggest win which they registered last season in their 11-0 win over the now relegated Golden Ladies from the North West.
The second highest score was the University of Johannesburg suffering a 10-0 beating from the Tshwane University of Johannesburg in 2020, while JVW defeated Richmond United 10-2 last year.
In four matches in October, the Brazilians have scored 29 goals – winning all of them.

Their first victim was City Lads Ladies who suffered a 6-0 drubbing, followed by Durban Ladies who were befell by the same fate, while JVW conceded just as much but were able to grab a consolation goal (6-1).
Coal City Wizards were not as lucky as they got a serious hiding, with Banyana Ba Style leading 6-0 at the break.
Former Vasco da Gama forward, Miche Minnies scored a double brace (23’, 25, 46’, 49), with Andisiwe Mgcoyi (12’, 31, 37’) and Boitumelo Rabale (44’, 52’, 71’) each grabbing a hattrick, while Tiisetso Makhubela put the final nail on the coffin with a 79th minute goal.
The result, however, has not come as a surprise as the Chloorkop outfit has dominated this fixture since the first meeting.

In 2021, Sundowns Ladies won 5-0 and 2-0, and further prevailed last season with a 9-0 and 7-0 victory. In this campaign alone, they scored 20 goals in two matches – 9-0 and 11-0.
This was Rabale’s fourth consecutive hat-trick against Coal City.
She is the club’s leading league goal scorer with 21 strikes to her name – just three short of last season’s tally, with six games to the end of the season.
Hot on her heels is Melinda Kgadiete with 15 goals, followed by Mgcoyi with 10 while Minnies is on eight.

The defending champions will have no time to rest and celebrate as they travel to Cape Town for a top of the table clash against UWC on Sunday, 22 October – their fifth match of the month.
The encounter, which could go a long way in deciding the league title destination, will be played at the UWC Stadium, with an early kick-off (11h00).
Sundowns won the corresponding fixture 3-0 in May this year.
