After a three-week wait, the University of the Western Cape (UWC) kickstart their 2025 Hollywoodbets Super League season with a visit to their bitter rivals, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
The clash takes place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, near Pretoria – which is the same venue where the two teams brought down the curtain on the 2024 campaign, with the hosts winning 2-0 on the day.

Matches between the two sides are always tightly contested affairs, but with the league facing challenges of not all teams playing at the same time, this may affect this clash.
Sundowns Ladies will be playing their second game while UWC will be kicking off their season after several postponements.
There have been 10 clashes in the last five seasons, and Banyana ba Style have dominated this fixture with seven victories compared to two for the Blues, while one match was drawn.
UWC’s wins came in 2022 and last year, registering 2-0 and 1-0 triumphs respectively.
Against the Capetonians, the Brazilians have managed 14 goals while the visitors have scored only four.
It will be the first time UWC coach Thinasonke Mbuli faces Sundowns Ladies interim coach Godfrey Sapula following the suspension of Jerry Tshabalala.
