UEFA Women’s Champions League reigning champs, Barcelona Feminino, will face France’s Lyon in the final of the competition scheduled for Turin, Italy on May 21.
The Spanish side advanced despite a 2-0 second leg loss to Germany’s VFL Wolfsburg Ladies, but Barcelona won 5-3 on aggregate after edging out their opponents 5-1 in the reverse fixture 5-1 played at Camp Nou with 91,648 fans in attendance in what was a record-breaking achievement.
Lyon progressed after beating compatriots Paris St. Germain 2-1, registering a 5-3 aggregate victory following a first leg 3-2 lead.
The record seven-time winners scored through Ada Hegerberg and Wendie Renard, while Marie-Antoinette Katoto replied for the PSG.
The match was played in front of 43.254 fans at the Parc des Princes – a record for a women’s football match in France.
Lyon will feature in their 10th final.
Renard was making her 101st appearance in the Women’s Champions League.
