Banyana Banyana forward Thembi Kgatlana wrapped up the 2025 season with a gold medal after winning the Liga MX Femenil title in Mexico on Sunday, 24 November 2025.
UANL Tigres claimed their record seventh title after defeating a stubborn Club America 1-0 on the night (4-3 on aggregate) in the second leg of the end of the league play-offs – the two sides were tied at 3-all from the first encounter.
The clash took place at the Estadio Universitario in Nuevo León.

Kgatlana was introduced late in the match – she scored in the first leg, helping her team come back from three goals down.
The victory was enough to wrap up a perfect season where they finished top of the table and concluded the play-offs unbeaten.
Tigres got off their campaign on a positive note with a 1-0 win over Juarez in quarterfinals, and progressed to the semis following a goalless stalemate in the reverse fixture.

In the last four, the Amazons travelled the same path as the previous round, playing a draw (1-1) and winning the return leg 2-1 – this time it was against Cruz Azul to set up a date with Club America.
Kgatlana joined the Mexican side in December 2023 – and has been the best performing South African among the five players in Liga MX Femenil.
This season alone, she has scored eight goals in total – seven in the league and one in the play-offs.
