Banyana Banyana midfielder Amogelang Motau became the latest South African player based in Mexico to get on the scoresheet on Friday morning (14 March 2025).
In just her third match for her new employers, Club Tijuana in the Liga MX Femenil, the Limpopo-born player got off the bench in the 61st minute and registered her first goal 24 minutes later (85’).

Wearing jersey number 17, she fired a cracker just outside the box, which gave the opposition goalkeeper no chance, to help the Mexican outfit share the spoils with Juarez in a 2-2 stalemate.
This was their second draw in as many matches, with one loss in the mix – and Motau is yet to taste victory with Tijuana.
She has been used as a substitute for the third match in a row and has faced Puebla and Club Leon in previous fixtures.

The former University of the Western Cape (UWC) captain, who signed for her new club in January this year, becomes the fifth South African to get off the mark in the Mexican Women’s League on the goal scoring charts.
With her one strike, she is still some way behind compatriot, Thembi Kgatlana of UANL Tigres who has six to her name. Motau’s teammate at Tijuana, Hilda Magaia, has four, level with Jermaine Seoposenwe of FC Monterrey while Sinoxolo Cesane of Mazatlán FC has managed three goals.
Cesane and Kgatlana will be hoping to increase on their goal tally when they face Atletico San Luis and Santos Laguna respectively on Saturday morning (15 March) to complete Round 12 of the Liga MX Femenil Clausura.

Meanwhile, Seoposenwe is back in action after missing three matches due to injury. She came off the bench in the 78thminute against Atlas Women but was unable to help in a 2-1 defeat.
The away clash took place on Friday morning.
