BANYANA BANYANA STAR CLUBLESS AFTER PARTING WAYS WITH USA CLUB

Banyana Banyana star Linda Motlhalo is on the hunt for a new club after she parted ways with her American employers, Racing Louisville just as the 2025 season is about to kick off.

The midfielder maestro has been spotted training with her former club, JVW FC while she is weighing her options.

After an exciting period at Glasgow City in Scotland where she won the league title, Motlhalo joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the US in January last year but did not enjoy a good spell, as she was used sparingly.

The South African played more matches for her country than she did for her club.

During her stay in Louisville, she featured in only three games, playing less that 20 minutes each time and was not used in 23 games in the season.

Despite lack of game time at club level, Motlhalo played a pivotal role in the Banyana squad, featuring in five games – twice against Senegal, vs England and also two fixtures against Jamaica, scoring in the latter in a 2-3 defeat.

Prior to this goal, she last scored in the 2-2 draw against Argentina in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia.

Racing Louisville penned a farewell message to the player:

“We thank Linda for everything she has given to Racing Louisville on and off the pitch,” said coach Bev Yanez.

“We wish her all the best in the next steps of her career!”

The 26 year old was on the books of Houston Dash in the USA where she signed her first professional contract in 2018.

She also played for Beijing BG Phoenix in China, Swedish club Djurgardens IF and Glasgow City before ending up in the USA.
