Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana have secured another high profile international friendly match to add to the three that they will play before the end of the year.
The African Champions will face Denmark on Friday, 25 October 2024 in Denmark, with full details expected to be released in the next coming days.
This will be the first time South Africa play the Europeans who were also at the 2023 FFIA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The Danes were eliminated in the Round of 16, just like Banyana Banyana. Denmark were in Group D alongside England, China and Haiti.

The clash against the 12th World Ranked Red and White, as the Danes are called, comes just four days before tackling England (Tuesday, 29 October 2024) at the Building Society Arena, the home of Coventry City in England. The Lionesses, who are the reigning European Champions in the EUFA Women’s EUROs, are second in the world. They have played South Africa twice before, winning both encounters.

Desiree Ellis’ charges will then close off the year with two fixtures against Jamaica, also known as the Reggae Girlz away in the Caribbean. The games against the 42nd world ranked country have been pencilled in for 29 November 2024 and 2 December 2024. The two nations last met in Durban in 2019 shortly before the 2019 FIFA Women’s Cup in France.

All four matches are part of Banyana Banyana’s preparations in defence of their CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title they won in 2022 in Morocco. The tournament has been scheduled for June 2025 but the football controlling body on the continent is yet to announce the hosts.
In total South Africa would have played nine matches by the end of 2024.
They kicked off the year with four Olympic Games qualifiers against Tanzania and Nigeria on a home and away basis.
The African Champions then travelled to West Africa for a date with Senegal in two international friendlies.
