TUT vs Sundowns Ladies:

The Tshwane Derby between defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) headlines Week 7 of the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The two neighbours face off at the TUT Pretoria Stadium.

This is one of five South African Premier Women’s League matches to be played on Saturday (25 March 2023).

All kick off at 15h00.

The Brazilians and TUT have met on six occasions in the last three seasons – with Sundowns Ladies victorious four times, drawing once and losing one game.

The Students were the last to win the duel between the two sides – 1-0 triumph back September last year.

But things may have changed as the students have a new coach and different personnel following the departure of ex-coach Sizwe Sibiya and several players, including top stars like Busisiwe Ndimeni and Nothando Vilakazi.

Twenty three goals have been scored in their six meetings, with Sundowns Ladies netting 16 to TUT’s seven.

Ma-Indies Ladies

UJ Ladies vs Ma-Indies:

The University of Johannesburg Stadium in Soweto will be scene where Limpopo’s Ma-Indies will be hoping to resuscitate their ailing season.

After six rounds of matches, the visitors have not registered any points after losing all their fixtures, leaving them bottom of the table.

The challenge is that they are facing a side that has won all their three home games this season, and convincingly so (4-1 vs Thunderbirds Ladies; 6-0 vs City Lads Ladies; 5-0 vs Coal City Wizards).

Tuks Ladies

Tuks Ladies vs JVW:

JVW will be away to newcomers University of Pretoria in their first ever meeting.

The Blue Diamonds have been blowing hot and cold this season with two wins, two draws and a loss, leaving them ninth on the table on eight points, just one more than their less-experienced opponents, who are two spots below.

The students have suffered three losses, managed two wins and a draw.

UWC Ladies

UWC vs First Touch:

Limpopo’s First Touch registered their first win of the season in the last round of fixtures – defeating a struggling Coal City Wizards 3-1.

But now they face a very stiff test when they travel to Cape Town to take on a high-flying University of the Western Cape (UWC), who have won all their five games – the only team yet to drop points in the 2023 campaign.

The Capetonians are second on the table with 15 points, just one behind the leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, and will to do everything to stay within touching distance.

Although it’s early days, the Limpopo outfit is lying 13th – an uncomfortable position, and could easily be dragged into the relegation quagmire.

The two meet at the UWC Stadium.

Coal City Wizards

Coal City Wizards vs Copperbelt Ladies:

In the last match of the day in Witbank, hosts Coal City Wizards face new kids on the block Copperbelt Ladies at the Puma Stadium. Both lost their previous fixtures by the same margin – 3-1, to First Touch and Durban Ladies respectively.

After six matches, Coal City has accumulated only four points following a win, a draw and four losses, while the newcomers have two wins to their name, and four losses.

This will be their first ever meeting.

On Sunday three matches will be on the go.

City Lads Ladies

City Lads Ladies vs Royal AM:

City Lads Ladies kick start the day at 11h30 when they host Royal AM as part of a double header clash at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London.

The Gunners (City Lads) managed an emphatic 4-0 victory last weekend (vs Thunderbirds) – their biggest win this season – and will be hoping they continue with the momentum.

KwaZulu Natal-based Royal AM were held to a draw and will be hoping to return to winning ways at the expense of the 10th-placed City Lads.

Royal AM is seventh.

Thunderbirds Ladies

Thunderbirds Ladies vs Richmond United:

In the second match at the same venue, second-from-bottom Thunderbirds Ladies will host the marauding Richmond United who have a knack to score more than four goals per match.

They meet at 15h00.

The struggling Thunderbirds will may find solace in the fact that the Northern Cape side are poor travellers having lost the two away games they have played this season – but won all three at home.

The hosts are yet to win a match – with two draws and four losses.

TS Galaxy Queens vs Durban Ladies:

In the last fixture of the day, Durban Ladies travel to the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga not knowing which team they will face in TS Galaxy Queens, after the latter parted ways with coach Jabulile Baloyi – this after the 1-1 draw against JVW last weekend.

The Mpumalanga outfit will be expecting a positive response from their players after bringing on board former TUT mentor Sizwe Sibiya, who started taking the team through their paces earlier this week.

The visitors come into this match in high spirits after a 3-1 win last weekend, and will be hoping to add the scalp of the newcomers to their records.
