JVW big winners, log leaders drop points, Golden Ladies notch up first victory

JVW were the biggest winners in Week 20 in the Hollywoodbets Super League when they beat a hapless City Lads Ladies 9-1 in the last match-up of the weekend.

After a break due to the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, JVW played like a well-oiled machine as they beat an out of sorts City Lads at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

Interestingly, the Eastern Cape side was the first on the scoresheet in the 11th minute through Snazo Ntshota – and that’s where it ended for them.

Banyana Banyana’s Gabby Salgado scored a double brace (17’ 28’ 56’ 57’) captain Nompumelelo Nyandeni led from the front with a hattrick (31’ 77’ 86’). Lerato Makhanya and Erin Herz chipped with the two goals.

JVW led 4-1 at the break.

The result sees the Blue Diamonds climb into second spot on the table at the expense of the University of Western Cape who held the reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to a 1-1 draw.

UWC is the only team to have defeated the Brazilians this season, following their 2-0 victory in the first round.
