Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa will face Green Buffaloes from Zambia in the decider of the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier with both also to represent the region at the continental finals.
Neither side were in action on Thursday, but the other results in the two groups completed the picture in terms of finalists, and confirmed who will be heading to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco later in the year.
Sundowns are also the holder of that competition and were assured of top spot in Group A in their regional championship when Double Action Ladies from Botswana could only muster a 2-0 win over Costa do Sol from Mozambique.
That meant the South Africans top their pool on goal-difference following their 8-1 opening day win over the Mozambicans, which gives them the edge on goal-difference.
Oteng Bonang gave Double Action the lead on Thursday thanks to a superb long-range shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and dropped into the goal.
The victory on the day was made safe when Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse added a second near the end.
Double Action will now face Olympique de Moroni in the bronze-medal match on
after they beat young Buffaloes 1-0 to finish runners-up in Group B.
Hadhirami Anlaouia scored the only goal of the game to give the Comoros side something to play for on the final day, but it is bitter disappointment for Eswatini champions Young Buffaloes.
Green Buffaloes were already assured of their final place before the round of fixtures, but the fact that Sundowns, who qualify automatically as hosts, have also made the decider means both teams advance to Morocco.
The final on Saturday will kick-off at 15h30 (CAT), with the bronze medal match to get underway at 12h00 CAT.
Saturday’s matches at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium will once again see tickets FREE. They will be available for collection at the venue from three hours before kick-off.
