The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana visited the South African Embassy in Rabat on Friday afternoon where they were welcomed by SA’s Ambassador to Morocco, Ebrahim Edries.
Desiree Ellis’ charges will begin their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Monday, 4 July against defending champions and arch rivals the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Edries believes Banyana Banyana’s victory can unite South Africa amid the rife economic hardships around the world.
“I am reminded of the Springboks victory back in 1995 before some of you were even born! That victory united our country South Africa. We believe this team can emulate the same victory here in Morocco and South Africa need good news at the moment. On behalf of the Embassy, we are 100 percent behind you and wish you all the best as you begin with this WAFCON journey,” said Edries..
