Sundowns and JVW remain unbeaten in the elite women’s league

After four rounds of matches in the Hollywoodbets Super League, only two teams remain unbeaten.

Reigning champions and current log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have 12 points each after winning all their fixtures so far.

The Brazilians are top of the table by virtue of a super goal difference.

Kicking off the midweek action, the CAF Women’s League champions showed no mercy to new comers City Lads Ladies at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns scored eight without any reply from the Eastern Cape side – with goals from Nonhlanhla Mthandi, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Miche Minnies, Karabo Dlamini, as well as a brace each from Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Boitumelo Rabale.

JVW FC were made to sweat before overcoming a spirited Durban Ladies in a late kick off at the Sturrock Park Stadium in Johannesburg.

Tanna Hollis opened in the scoring in first half before Kgadi Mahlaola and Gabriela Salgado netted in the second half for a hard-fought 3-0 win, with the visitors suffering their third loss in a row.

Thunderbirds Ladies failed to make good use of home advantage at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London. After four outings, they were handed their first defeat of the season when they went down 1-0 to the visiting University of the Western Cape (UWC).

UJ Ladies FC travelled to Intabazwe Sport Complex in the Free State for a date with Tsunami Queens and returned with all three points after a 2-1 win.

At Merino Park in De Aar, Northern Cape side Richmond United claimed their second victory in the league with a dominant 4-1 win over Vasco da Gama.

Ma-Indies snapped a three game losing streak as they beat Mpumalanga’s Coal City Wizards 4-1 at the Giyani Stadium.

Two matches ended goalless.

Hosts TUT FC and the travelling Bloemfontein Celtic could not be separated at the Tshwane University of Technology Stadium, while Golden Ladies managed to get their first point of the season when they shared the spoils with First Touch FC at the NWU Stadium.

Three teams are yet to shake the points column – Durban Ladies, Tsunami Queens and newcomers City Lads Ladies.
