There has been a lot of positive reaction to Kaizer Chief’s launch of their women’s football team, with Mexico-based former Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe being one of the first to come out and call the move “truly amazing.”
Joining the chorus was Supersport football pundit Simphiwe Dludlu who described the new developments as “a gigantic step by Kaizer Chiefs.”
Several other players also came on board with Namibian international Zenatha Coleman, who recently won the COSAFA Women’s Championship, saying “we are finally here.”

Chiefs announced on Tuesday (31 April 2026) at a glittering event in Daveyton, east of Johannesburg, that they will have a women’s football side that will campaign in the Gauteng Sasol League, the second tier of South African women’s football.
The Naturena outfit also went on parade their squad of 24 players, including former Banyana Banyana stalwarts, Mamello Makhabane and Yolula Tsawe.
Kaizer Chiefs Ladies will be coached by Unathi Mabena, formerly with JVW where she joined as a player and finished as an assistant coach.

The unveiling of the team got off to a positive start with Amakhosi announcing that Daveyton-based Brima Logistics will sponsor the new side.
For their matches, they will use Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena and the KwaThema Stadium in the East Rand.
Kaizer Chiefs now becomes the fourth Betway Premiership club to have a registered women’s football team, following in the footsteps of Mamelodi Sundowns, TS Galaxy and Stellenbosch.
