Founding members Durban Ladies relegated from the Hollywoodbets Super League

As predicted by this publication, Durban Ladies have been relegation from the Hollywoodbets Super League, with four matches remaining to the end of the campaign.

The demise of KwaZulu Natal side is the end of an era as they are the founder members of the South African elite women’s football league back in the 2019/2021 season – which is now known as the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Durban Ladies failed to honour their fixture on Sunday, 12 October 2025 against the University of the Western Cape (UWC) – leading the South African Football Association (SAFA) to awarding a 2-0 victory to the Capetonians.

Most of the Durban Ladies team members were seen playing in a youth tournament in Pretoria where they finished in second place.

Durban Ladies has now suffered 20 defeats this season in the Hollywoodbets Super League, with only one win to their name in the 2025 campaign.

The latest defeat left them on eight points, and with four games remaining, they can only get to 22 points – 14th placed First Touch is already on 23.

As matters stand, the Durbanites have scored 21 goals, and conceded 62.

The relegation does not come as a surprise as they managed their first and only win of the season last month (Wednesday, 24 September 2025).

Durban ladies become the second KZN outfit to go down in two different season – last year debutants Lindelani Ladies got the chop from the South African elite women’s league.

In the relegated bin, they join Coal City Wizards (Mpumalanga), Golden Ladies (North West), Tsunami Queens (Free State), Ma-Indies Ladies (Limpopo) and Thunderbirds Ladies (Eastern Cape).

The remaining four fixtures will see Durban Ladies face neighbours Ezemvelo Ladies, reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, the University of Pretoria and TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies.

Also in danger of relegation is another KZN side, Royal AM who are 15th on the table on 13 points with five games remaining.
