Prolific forwards of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Jermaine Seoposenwe and Thembi Kgatlana, returned to the starting line-up of their respective teams in Mexico and were on target on Match Day 10 of the Clausura 2024 in the Liga MX Femenil.
Both were unused substitutes on Match Day 9 following their exploits in the national team where they faced Tanzania in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.
But on Saturday morning (9 March 2024) they came back firing on all cylinders, with Seoposenwe grabbing a brace for FC Monterrey in a 4-1 demolition of Club Leon at the Nou Camp Stadium.
After a goalless first half, the Capetonian was the first to open the scoring in the 48th minute with a delightful chip after shaking off her marker – her fifth of the season.

The opposition managed to equalize but Seoposenwe would have none of that and restored her side’s advantage in the 63rd minute before Merel van Dongen and Nicole Perez put the result beyond doubt with two more goals.
Seoposenwe lasted 75 minutes in the match – she has now scored six goals for FC Monterrey.
Kgatlana was also not to be outdone with her fourth of the campaign, helping Tigres UANL to a hundred percent record of wins in10 matches.
The Banyana Banyana captain received a defence-splitting pass and evaded the attention of two defenders to shoot towards goal – the goalkeeper had a touch, but it was not enough to stop the shot as it trickled into the net.
Spanish international Jenni Hermoso scored the other goal for a 2-0 victory over Queretaro Femenil.

Tigres, who are the defending champions, are the only side yet to draw or taste defeat – they lead the table with 30 points.
They will be tested next weekend (Saturday, 16 March 2024) when they face the equally high-riding FC Monterrey – this is when Kgatlana and Seoposenwe will come face to face for the first time in the league.
The top of the table clash is one of the most anticipated matches of the season between the two eternal rivals who are undoubtedly the best teams in the league.

Hilda Magaia and Sinoxolo Cesane’s struggling Mazatlán FC will be in action on Monday, 11 March when they take on the fifth-placed Guadalajara Chivas Femenil.
Mazatlán is 14th on the table after nine outings, with only six points on the board.
Last weekend they lost 4-0 to Kgatlana’s Tigres but none of the South Africans played in the match after returning from national team duties.
