Hollywoodbets Super League reigning champions, Sundowns Ladies, have unveiled lethal forward Nthabiseng Majiya as their new signing – coming hot on the heels of the announcement young sensation, Cimone Sauls from JVW.
Majiya, signed from Richmond United in the Northern Cape, is currently in the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana squad of 32 players (which will be trimmed down) that is set to take on Tanzania in the two-legged 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers on Friday, 23 February in Dar es Salaam and on Tuesday, 27 February at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
Originally form Phillippolis in the Free State, the young forward helped her former club to a seventh place finish in two successive years in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
On the national team front, Majiya played a key role when Banyana Banyana won their first ever TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco in 2022. She was the youngest player in the South African team at the tournament, and was a Grade 11 learner from Orio High School in De Aar, Northern Cape.
Majiya came off the bench twice during the tournament – against Burundi and Botswana – and scored her first national team goal against the latter country, winning 1-0, a result moved South Africa to the next round.
Young as she is, Majiya has been a revelation.
She received back to back Hollywoodbets Super League Young Player of the Year accolades in 2021 and 2022.

The feat earned her a trip to England for the first win to get some experience abroad where they visited Brentford, along other winners in that season: Nompumelelo Nyandeni (JVW FC) – Top Goal scorer [shared]; Andisiwe Mgcoyi (Sundowns Ladies) – Top Goal scorer [shared]; Bambanani Mbane (Sundowns Ladies) – Player of the Year and Regirl Ngobeni (UWC) – Goalkeeper of the Year.
For her 2022 prize, Majiya has just returned from Spain for another European experience with Hollywoodbets as well as other individual winners: Boitumelo Rabale – Player of the Season (Sundowns Ladies); Nompumelelo Nyandeni – Top Goal Scorer (TS Galaxy Queens) and Katlego Moletsane – Goalkeeper of the Season (Royal AM).

Majiya missed out on the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament as she was placed on standby.
At Sundowns Ladies, she is expected to flourish more under the tutelage of her long-time admirer, Jerry Tshabalala who is the head coach of the Chloorkop outfit.
Majiya will join a host of Banyana Banyana players including Kholosa Biyana, Bambanani Mbane, Andile Dlamini, Tiisetso Makhubela, Lebohang Ramalepe, Karabo Dhlamini, among others.
She has also played for the South African U20 Women’s National Team.
