Banyana Banyana forward Thembi Kgatlana has wasted no time in introducing herself to the Mexican football fans with a brace to give her new side, Tigres UANL a 5-1 victory over UNAM Women on Saturday, 13 January 2024.
She was thrown into the fray in the 56th minute, taking the place of Joceline Montoya with the scores level at 1-all.
Kgatlana grabbed two quick goals late in the second half – with her debut goal in the Liga MX Femenil coming in the 84th minute before wrapping up the match with another strike in referee’s optional time (90+4).
This was their second win in as many matches – they defeated Puebla 1-0 in the opening game of the league season.
Kgatlana has now scored at all the professional clubs that she has played for, since her first contract at Houston Dash in the USA back in 2018.
For Match Day 3, Tigres will next host Santos Laguna Femenil on Wednesday (17 January).
