The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has all but cleared the path for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to claim the treble in 2023 – COSAFA/CAF Women’s Champions League, the CAF Women’s Champions League, and now the Hollywoodbets Super League – the same feat they achieved in 2021.
This comes after the Capetonians – playing their fourth match in 11 days – suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of TS Galaxy Queens in a midweek clash (Wednesday, 22 November) held at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga – the result almost handing defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies the title.
UWC’s defeat leaves them on 72 points after 29 rounds of fixtures played – with only Durban Ladies left in the 2023 campaign.

Fresh from reclaiming the CAF Women’s Champions League title in Cote d’Ivoire at the weekend, the newly crowned Queens of Africa at club level have hardly had time to rest and will be back on the field on Thursday, 23 November 2023 where they will be hosting neighbours, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the final Tshwane Derby of the season at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
Kick-off is at 15h00.
When Banyana Ba Style left for continental commitments, at five games remaining, they were level on 66 points with the students – but the latter has since lost two matches (0-1 vs Richmond; 0-2 vs TS Galaxy), won two (3-0 vs University of Pretoria; 1-0 vs JVW) and are left with the final game of the season (Durban Ladies).
The five remaining games for Banyana Ba Style are, TUT, Thunderbirds Ladies, Tuks Ladies, TS Galaxy Queens and the University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies).

With their midweek victory – their sixth in a row – and with two matches left to the end of the season, TS Galaxy Queens are three points ahead of the fourth-placed JVW.
The Mpumalanga side still has to face Copperbelt Ladies and reigning champions Sundowns Ladies, while the Blue Diamonds are left with clashes against Royal AM and UJ Ladies.
