TS Galaxy Queens have managed to reduce the gap on the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to just one point – after both played 17 matches. The Brazilians were not in action due to their involvement in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers that concluded on Sunday, 31 August which saw Botswana’s Gaborone United Ladies crowned the 2025 winners.

The Mpumalanga outfit outfit travelled to the University of Johannesburg and returned home with all three points following a 2-0 victory over the hosts on Sunday (31 August 2025). In the process, Leandra Smeda increased her goal tally for the season to 11 goals, continuing to lead the pack.
The Rockets are now on 40 points with a 13-match unbeaten run with 10 wins and three draws. TS Galaxy Queens have managed 12 victories this season with four draws. They remain the only side to have lost once this campaign – (2-0 to JVW in April). UJ are sixth on the table with 35 points after 21 games.

TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies occupy the third spot after they won the Varsity Derby, defeating the struggling University of the Western Cape (UWC) 1-0 in Cape Town. The Tshwane outfit is on 38 points after 21 rounds of matches, while the Capetonians are 13th with 21 points from 17 outings.

There seems to be no rescue in sight for Durban Ladies who suffered their 15th loss of the current campaign in 20 games, losing 2-1 to First Touch. The Kwazulu Natal side has five points from as many draws and is yet to win a match. With the result, Durban Ladies further cemented their position at the bottom of the table. First Touch are 12th with 22 points after 20 games.
The biggest winners this past weekend were JVW who thumped second from bottom Royal AM 5-0 in Pietermaritzburg with five different scorers – all goals came in the second half. The result sees the Blue Diamonds on the fifth spot with 35 games from 18 matches, while Royal AM have only 13 points from 22 outings.

It was also raining goals at the UJ Soccer Stadium where the University of Pretoria (Amatuks) walloped the visiting Richmond United Ladies from the Northern Cape 4-0, with Rethabile Ngcobo grabbing a brace. The game also saw forward Wendy Shongwe get on the scoresheet in only her second match after returning from an injury – she was sidelined for over a year. Richmond United Ladies are third the bottom on 17 points after 21 games, while Amatuks are ninth with 26 points.

There was also a win for Ezemvelo Ladies as they downed City Lads Ladies 1-0 in Gqeberha, while the University of Fort Hare (UFH) and the University of the Cape (UCT) could not be separated in this Varsity Derby, with neither finding the back of the net. Ezemvelo occupy the eighth position with City Lads 11th, while UFH are sitting comfortably on the fourth spot and UCT 10th.
