The evening of Sunday, 01 February 2026 has been set aside to honour the Hollywoodbets Super League stars, and the glittering ceremony will be held at Vodaworld near Midrand.
The 2025 South African elite women’s football league season will go down as one of the most fiercely contested campaigns where champions, and record six-times winners, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, were pushed all the way.
Surprise package JVW finished second, their highest ever position since promotion from the Sasol League back in 2021, while TS Galaxy Queens took third place – and both were tied on 69 points each, 11 behind Banyana ba Style.

Forward Leandra Smeda (TS Galaxy Queens) stands alone as the Top Goalscorer with 24 goals.
After spending several years abroad in Europe, Smeda returned to South Africa and joined The Rockets where she was converted from a midfielder to a forward – a move that paid dividends.
The Capetonian finished top of the goalscorers’ charts, six ahead of closest rival, Bonolo Mokoma of JVW. Smeda bettered the number of goals scored by the 2024 winner, Boitumelo Rabale of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies who managed 17 goals.
“I feel really good about the achievement, and I didn’t see this one coming because for the past 6-8 years I’ve played as a CM, CDM, CD mostly at the various clubs I was with, not as an attacker,” Smeda recently told CentreCircle.online

Two more categories have been added to spice things up a bit, and for the first time ever there will be something to shout about for the standout midfielders and defenders following the introduction of the Midfielder and Defender of the Season awards.
In total, there will be nine categories to be contested for on the night of the stars.
- Referee of the Season
- Assistant Referee of the Season
- Young Player of the Season
- Goalkeeper of the Season
- Coach of the Season
- Midfielder of the Season
- Defender of the Season
- Players’ Player of the Season
- Player of the Season

The Players’ Player of the Season award is a prestigious accolade where the winner is voted for by her peers, with Sundowns Ladies captain and defender Lebogang Ramalepe named the victor in 2024.
There have been a lot of enterprising youngsters in the Hollywoodbets Super League in recent years, which leads to the Young Player of the Season award becoming a battleground for those who are 18 years or younger during the season in question.
Khwezi Khoza lifted this trophy in the previous campaign. This time around, Bonolo Mokoma (JVW), Okuhle Sithole (Durban Ladies) and Rethabile Ngcobo (Tuks) will battle it out for the winner’s cheque.
The University of Johannesburg’s Matshidiso Masebe was crowned the 2024 Goalkeeper of the Season following an exciting season by the students.

In 2025 the last line of defence was in magnificent form, making it a huge battle to see who claims the crown between goal minders Dineo Magagula (TS Galaxy Queens), Kaylin Swart (JVW) and Kebotseng Moletsane (University of Fort Hare).
It will also be a difficult choice to pick in the two new categories. JVW’s Jessica Wade, who has since moved abroad, will battle it out against former teammate and captain Robyn Moodaly alongside Sundowns Ladies’ Nonhlanhla Mthandi in the Midfielder of the Season accolade.
The Defender of the Year award will no doubt also be a huge battle with
Karabo Dlamini (Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies), Boitumelo Rasehlo (JVW FC) and Precious Seshweni (TS Galaxy Queens) all in the hat.
Two other hotly contested awards are the Coach of the Season and Player of the Season, and all will be revealed on Sunday, 1 February.

Former Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala won the coaching trophy, while ex-University of the Western Cape (UWC) captain, Amogelang Motau, who now plies her trade in Mexico, scooped the Player of the Season accolade. Smeda, Refilwe Tholakele (Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies) and Mokoma are vying for the 2025 title.
After a stellar season, JVW top the number of nominees across various categories:
- Janine van Wyk – Coach of the Season

- Boitumelo Rasehlo – Defender of the Season
- Jessica Wade – Midfielder of the Season, Players Player of the Season
