The Hollywoodbets Super League double header meant for the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Sunday, 10 September was called off for safely concerns.
According to sabcsport.com, who were at the venue as they were scheduled to broadcast the two matches – Royal AM vs City Lads Ladies (11h30) and Durban Ladies vs TS (15h00) Queens – both could not go ahead after Inkatha Freedom Party supporters stormed the stadium gate whilst firing gun shots into the air.
The IFP supporters were rioting following the passing away on Saturday morning (9 September 2023) of their founding president Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi
The matches will be rescheduled to a later date.

First Touch 0 – 2 UWC
Meanwhile, on Saturday (9 September) the University of the Western Cape (UWC) opened a seven point lead at the top of the standings after a 2-0 win over First Touch of Limpopo at the Rugby field near the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The match was part of a triple-header at the venue.
The victory was UWC’s eighth in a row, and they now sit on 57 points, followed by Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies on 50 – the latter has two games in hand as they were involved in COSAFA duties and will be back in league action this coming weekend.

Ma-Indies 0 – 1 UJ Ladies
Limpopo’s Ma-Indies Ladies’ downward slope continued as they suffered their 12th defeat in a row. They lost 1-0 to the University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies) who remained seventh, on 38 points – level with Tuks University.
If they are to get out of trouble, bottom of the table Ma-Indies are left with eight matches to change their fortunes.
They have managed only six points in 22 matches – two wins and 20 defeats.

Copperbelt Ladies 2 – 0 Coal City Wizards
Newcomers Copperbelt Ladies was the only Limpopo side to collect three points this past weekend as they defeated Mpumalanga’s Coal City Wizards 2-0 in Polokwane – the same result from the first round.
This was their first win in eight outings, but enough to see them climb one spot up to 12th over City Lads Ladies whose match was cancelled.
After 22 matches played, Copperbelt have 19 points, two adrift of TUT in 11th position and two ahead of City Lads.

Richmond United 4 – 4 Thunderbirds Ladies
Merino Park in De Aar, Northern Cape, was the scene of an eight-goal thriller between hosts Richmond United and the struggling Thunderbirds Ladies.
The two sides cancelled each other out, ending in a 4-all stalemate – only the second time in the history of the South African elite women’s football league that such a score line was recorded.
Interestingly, the Eastern Cape’s Thunderbirds were involved in the other 4-4 draw outcome, and it was against First Touch on 9 October 2021.
The result has, however, not changed the status quo for the second-from-bottom side – with 10 points from 21 matches.
Richmond also remain eighth.

JVW vs University of Pretoria:
As expected, there were fireworks at the UJ Soccer Stadium in Soweto JVW hosted the University of Pretoria (Tuks Ladies).
The Blue Diamonds twice had to come back from behind to register a 3-2 victory over the students – a result which pushed them two spots up to third position, with 44 points.
The visitors suffered their second loss in a row.
This was also a match where JVW unveiled their new signing Julia Molin from Sweden – becoming the third player to join the club, following in the footsteps of founder Janine van Wyk and Aliyaah Allie – the latter pair making their return to the club after spending time in Greece and Scotland respectively.
