Golden Ladies and Tsunami Queens axed as Copperbelt Ladies and Tuks Ladies FC replace them in the Hollywoodbets Super League

The struggling duo of Golden Ladies and Tsunami Queens will bid farewell to the Hollywoodbets Super League at the end of the season after the two sides were relegated to the Sasol League.

Golden Ladies is still left with two matches (UWC and TUT) while Tsunami Queens have only one game remaining (JVW).

The last day of this season is Saturday, 26 November 2022.

Golden Ladies

In 28 outings so far, Golden Ladies have managed only 13 points – three wins, four draws and 21 losses – conceding 97 goals in the process.

The writing was on the wall for the North West side as they failed to win a single match in 19 fixtures in a row from the beginning of the season.

Their first three points were against Coal City Wizards on the 17th of September 2022 – in their 20th match.

The two other wins were against Tsunami and Durban Ladies.

In the 2021 season, Golden Ladies finished second from bottom – 13th in the 14-team league, but were saved because there was no relegation and promotion.

Tsunami Queens

Tsunami Queens also travelled the same path – as they started the year on a low, only collecting their first three points in their 14th fixture (1-0 vs First Touch FC – 13 August 2022).

In 29 matches, they have only won twice, drawing three and losing 23.

Their second win was last month against City Lads Ladies – but it was too little too late.

Although the struggle was real for City Lads and Vasco da Gama, the newly-promoted sides held their own and managed to survive the chop – they are currently lying 12th and 14threspectively.

Tsunami’s departure leaves a void in the Free State as there will be no Hollywoodbets Super League action in the province after Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies relocated to KwaZulu Natal.

North West will also be without a team in the elite women’s league following Golden Ladies’ relegation.

Copperbelt Ladies FC

Golden Ladies and Tsunami Queens will be replaced by Sasol League National Champions Copperbelt Ladies FC of Limpopo and runners up Tuks FC, who gained promotion into elite women’s league.

The latest scenario means Limpopo will have three teams in the Hollywoodbets Super League – Copperbelt Ladies, Ma-Indies Ladies and First Touch FC.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies

Gauteng will be represented by four teams – champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), JVW, University of Johannesburg (UJ).

It also means there will be four university teams for the 2023 league campaign – University of the Western Cape (UWC), TUT, Tuks Ladies and UJ.

Tuks Ladies

The other teams in the league are:

Richmond United – Northern Cape

Durban Ladies – KwaZulu Natal

Thunderbirds Ladies & City Lads Ladies – Eastern Cape

Coal City Wizards – Mpumalanga

Vasco da Gama – Western Cape
