AS FAR to face Arsenal in the semi-final of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup

African women’s club football is well and alive in the semi-finals of the new FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

This comes after Moroccan giants AS FAR came from behind to defeat Wuhan Chegu Jiangda Women’s Football Club at Stade Municipal de Berrechid on Sunday (14 December 2025).

The 2025 CAF Women’s Champion’s League winners will now face off with English side Arsenal in the last four of FIFA’s inaugural women’s club competition.

The Chinese outfit took the lead through Wang (29’) in the first half before Hajar Said (89’) found the equaliser in the last minute and Sanaa Mssoudy (104) wrapped it up in extra time to set up a date with the European Champions.

The semi-finals will be held in London next month with the winner facing either Gotham FC from the USA or Brazilian outfit Corinthians in the final.

This will be the first time the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will be staged after the world football governing body approved the competition earlier this year in March.

The tournament pits the best women’s clubs from all six confederations – CAF (Africa), AFC (Asia), UEFA (Europe), CONCACAF (North & Central America and the Caribbean), OFC (Oceania), and CONMEBOL (South America).

It will be held every non-FIFA Women’s Club World Cup year, which will start in 2028.
