Another University team will be added to the Hollywoodbets Super League roster for the for the 2025 season.
This comes after the semi-finalists were confirmed and the draw conducted at the 2024 Sasol League National Championship currently underway at the Loerie Park Sports Grounds in Knysna.
Ramatlaohle will open the proceedings when they go toe to toe with Ezemvelo in the first semi-final at 11am, followed at 3pm by the varsity derby between UCT and Kovsies.
This implies that there will be another university team in the new Hollywoodbets Super League season, adding to the University of the Western Cape (UWC), University of Pretoria (Tuks), University of Fort Hare, University of Johannesburg (UJ Ladies) as well as TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies.
The Limpopo team will be hoping to appease their faithful after Ma-Indies Ladies were relegated last season, while Kovsies will be eager to restore pride in the Free State as the province has not had a team since the demise of Tsunami Queens in 2022.
Only two teams will be promoted to the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Earlier in the day, 2023 Sasol League National Championship returnees, Ramatlaohle Ladies from Limpopo topped Group A, discarding Mpumalanga’s Super Strikers (who missed out on goal difference), while FC Raycon stood no chance as the lost both games.
Newcomers Kovsies FC of the Free State were in a mean mood as they dispatched Royal Wizards of the Northern Cape 3-0, while the North West University was the first casualty in Group B following back to back losses – a result that has left the North West province without a team since 2022.
Group C was won by the ruthless hosts, University of Cape Town as they brushed aside Eastern Cape’s Sophakama Ladies 6-0, with Ezemvelo of KwaZulu Natal progressing as the best second placed team, edging out Super Strikers by one goal.
The finals will be played on Sunday, 20 October at the same venue at 11am.
