Hollywoodbets Super League returns this weekend

The Hollywoodbets Super League kicks off this coming weekend in what promises to be an entertaining season in the domestic women’s league.

Last season saw the first year of relegation and promotion, and we bid farewell to Tsunami Queens from the Free State and North West’s Golden Ladies.

This season, Hollywoodbets Super League welcomes Copperbelt Ladies (Limpopo) and University of Pretoria (Gauteng) after the duo gained promotion as finalists in the 2022 Sasol League National Playoffs.

TS Galaxy Queens have officially taken over the status of Vasco Da Gama  and this will make them the third Premier League club to own a female club – the others are Mamelodi Sundowns and Royal AM.

Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be looking to start on a high as they search for a fourth consecutive title, while the newcomers will have to pace themselves as this league is a marathon.

This weekend will see the first six matches, with two games live on SABC Sport on Saturday (4 February 2023).

JVW Ladies will host Thunderbird Ladies in the 11h30 match, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will welcome Richmond United at 15h00.

The two clashes will be at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

City Lads will welcome TS Galaxy Queens to the league in a match to be played in Gqeberha, while Coal City Wizards host the University of the Western Cape at the Puma Stadium in Witbank.

The University of Johannesburg travels to Durban for their opening match of the season against Durban Ladies at Chatsworth Stadium, while Royal AM make their way to Giyani to face Ma-Indies Ladies.

The action continues on Sunday (5 February 2023) with two Hollywoodbets Super League matches being played in Polokwane.

Copperbelts Ladies will host the University of Pretoria at 11h30 while First Touch will face Tshwane University of Technology TUT) at 15h00.

The matches take place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
